When shelters become overloaded with unwanted animals, those animals are euthanized.  Over 4 million a day! But Pilots N Paws is helping by shuttling these at risk sweethearts to places people want to adopt. You can help, too. Here’s the LINK to take you to their page. I donated and will do so again. Raised in the far north, amid Jack London’s world of dog sleds and dark winters, J.H. Moncrieff has been a professional writer all of her adult life.
During her years as a journalist, she tracked down snipers and canoed through crocodile-infested waters. She has published hundreds of articles in national and international magazines and newspapers.
When she’s not writing, J.H. loves to travel to exotic locations, advocate for animal rights, and muay thai kickbox. She’s an avid reader of many different genres, including thrillers, suspense, true crime, memoirs, cookbooks, women’s fiction, and horror.

I saw a lot of this type of thing while I lived in the Caribbean, where people breed animals indiscriminately and then leave them to fend for themselves. How kind of you to bring this to the attention of many,''

  2. Ive never heard of Pilots N Paws so thank you very much for brining it to my attention. I will donate. Animals in need of a home rip my heart open. I wish I could take all of them. I love animals and I don't like our local shelter because they put dogs down after a very short stay. It makes me cry.

    I have a new favorite quote. I heard it at my daughter's high school graduation over the weekend. It is too long for me to write the entire quote, but it is by Calvin Coolidge. It begins with "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not. Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not. The world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

    Well I think I wrote it all or most if it. For some reason, hearing that quote this past weekend, truly resonated with me. It made me consider my writing, where I am and where I want to be. It was perhaps the biggest kick in the pants I've had and I needed it.

    All of my dogs have been from shelters. Love to see people being kind and turning around a sad situation!

  26. Major kudos to Pilots and Paws. I'm a big supporter of animal rescue organizations and this looks like a good one.

    But that bear is seriously creepy. Congratulations to J.H.

  28. Wonderful what these pilots do to help animals. More awareness is needed to prevent so many animals from ending up in shelters.

  29. OK a freaky Panda bear is not fun to look at or receive as a gift. Scary! Congrats to the author:) How sad to hear 4 million a day. I knew it was high but I didn't realize how high. Very, very sad especially when one knows many animals are sweet and deserve a home

  31. I have a shelter dog. He is the greatest and I am sad when I realize that for a big dog (60 pounds) he is 15 years old and is really slowing down. But he is a good boy.

  40. We just got a new rat, Wilbur, as a pet. He was my son's lab rat in psychology, and he could either have euthanized him or brought him home. He chose to bring him home. He's a good rat. I actually like him.

    I normally like teddy bears, but not that one! Best of luck to JH!

    Congrats to JH for her release. That blurb sounds chilling. Now I'll be giving the stuffed animals I see a double take lol!

  44. Well now, that IS a spooky trailer! I know of several dogs that have been transported to their forever homes all the way from the Virgin Islands to Boston and other places on the East Coast. It's a wonderful thing.

  47. 4 million a day! Oh wow, that breaks my heart. I wish people would be more responsible with the pets they have and adopt pets. Our stray kitty has been a wonderful addition to our family. Thanks for mentioned the giveaway!
