And whatever you do, don’t miss July 27th #IWSGPit on Twitter. 8am-8pm Over 30 agents are checking the twitter feed.
Great quotes in this post! Love it.
I really love Alexander's quote. I relate to it heart and soul. 🙂
I liked the attitude in Ernest Hemingway's quote and would definitely like to check out A Jumble of 500+ Writing Prompts. Thanks for sharing, Lee 🙂
Ooh, great quotes! So true about fantasy being a way to better understand reality…
Hi Lee – love the idea of this post – and it's great to read the quotes and to see the book covers for the authors in the anthology. Tyrean's – 500 writing prompts … some choices; while Elizabeth's also should be a great escape; though I imagine Sean's book will give us a fascinating insight into Morocco … thanks for these. I shall be watching out and reading how the 27th goes … cheers Hilary
Good quotes and I like the cover shot on Elizabeth Seakman's book (The Hatteras lighthouse)
Hey Lee,
Great post! Thanks for sharing! Following!
Okay, okay, I'm loving all those quotes. Amazingly awesome featured authors, who, rumour has it, are huge fans of Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar. Yes, that Penny, acclaimed pawbisher and all round crazy canine.
"IWSG" aka "I Was Seeking Gary." It's all good.
With that and considering it's ridiculous O'clock time here in lil' ol' England, I must sadly leave now. Cheerio from you starstruckest fan, Lee.
Gary
I think it's great that IWSG is putting out anthologies. It's good for the authors who are selected, and it's also good for the publishing company – lots of marketing help because so many people are involved with its production.
Nice quotes.
Lloyd Alexander has some of the best books. Small wonder his quote rings true to so many.
Nice features of the authors! I love exploring blogs.
Naturally, I had to Google the Charles Bukowsi poems, and I’m glad I did. They are excellent.
Great to meet the authors from this fascinating book. Thanks for the feature.
Thanks for featuring the winning authors! Always interesting to learn a bit more about them.
Loved the quotes! And Charles Bukowski has been added to my reading list.
He does sound inviting!
The list for the Pit fest is really good. Should be great.
Absolutely great!
I must get a copy of Heroes Lost. Want to read it, but I need to catch up on the books I already have. Oh well. Why not?
I hear what you're saying!
These quotes are great. I find quotes inspirational and can help any writer achieve their goal
I always read them and say, "I wanted to think that first. Why didn't I?"
Love the quotes. And sometimes fiction is truer than anything else.
Neil Gaiman says it for me 'Things need not have happened to be true. Tales and adventures are the shadow truths that will endure when mere facts are dust and ashes and forgotten.'
Oh brilliant. And you could add how those facts are so easily distorted to suit the teller. Great quote.
I love that one!
I love that IWSG has put out it's second anthology.
The group is on a roll!
Poems are awesome, they reach into the soul and free the human spirit.
I'd like to have the talent to write good poetry.
Very nice to feature the authors from Hero Lost.
I liked the stories, so it's easy to share that with my followers.
What great quotes, especially the one Tyrean shared. That's an awesome way to view fantasy.
Tyrean seems to have landed on a favorite!
Hi, Cheryl!
Good golly, Miss Molly! Your quote by Moms Mabley is my favorite. How do you even know about her? Moms was a familiar face and voice of my teenage years. For the benefit of readers who do not remember her, Moms was a black, openly lesbian comedienne, a veteran Chitlin' Circuit vaudevillian who kept her career alive in the 1960s through her frequent appearances on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Moms also holds the distinction of being the oldest living person ever to achieve a top 40 hit single. Moms staked her claim to fame with a spoken word cover of "Abraham, Martin and John," originally recorded and turned into a major hit by Dion Di Muci. I remember it well!
Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cheryl!
I had no idea she'd done all of this! You are a wealth of knowledge, Shady. Thanks for sharing it with us here.
happy agent hunt to everyone!
What's life without a quest, heh?
Hemingway's quote was great. Thanks, Elizabeth.
Are we both pretending then?
Elizabeth rocks!
She do indeed.
Thank you for sharing this, C. Lee! You're constant encouraging attitude is awesome!!!
Always my pleasure!
I do like anthologies – I need to check out more!! Thanks for sharing.

I hope you will, Lauren. Variety and well-written work await you.
The poem, "All the Way," is simple yet powerful. It demands everything.
Absolutely. Half-way just doesn't quite make it. Can you imagine building a bridge half way to the other side?
Loves these quotes. Writing is like any other talent, what looks so good in the end took a lot more work and polish than the reader realizes 🙂 Thank you Lee.
I know. I didn't realize just how much it took to write a book until I started doing it myself. Now I value each page I read. Thanks for the visit, Erika. I think you're next up.
Great quotes! I especially like Tyrean's quote – it's what I like about sci-fi and fantasy. They're genres which help you make sense of our world.
Thanks!
And we need all the help we can get, don't we?
Thanks for sharing these, Lee!
Of course. I enjoy writing about people who write. 🙂
Born that way – LOL!
Thank you for featuring the authors of Hero Lost this month. They've worked so hard on their stories and with promoting the book.
Hard work pays off in this business. I respect that.
Fantasy sure is like that indeed. I'm all for letting one think I was born that way lol
Me too! Prodigies both.
I definitely agree with Tyrean's quote. That's how I've always viewed fantasy.
The IWSG has a lot going on!
Thanks, Alex!
Yes. And I'd say to those who don't read fiction (something beneath their intellectual dignity) that quote applies even more broadly. Thanks to you and to Tyrean!
