My Friend on Inish Mor |
I’ve had enough about Leap Castle and it’s dreadful history, and I’m sure my readers have as well. Ireland may be filled with ghostly places, but it’s also filled with lots of beauty and laughter. The Emerald Isle has my heart, and I think my ancestors must have either been desperate or nuts to leave it. Here are a few places I love.

Howth (rhymes with both)–a hike you can’t miss. |

Roscrea–one of my favorite inland places. Home of Leap Castle. |

Hungry Author at The Thatch–300-year-old pub |

Powerscourt–Very posh. Very beautiful. |

More great photos! I'd love to visit Ireland someday. My grandma always wanted to. She'd made plans with a cousin to go before she became too ill. I'd love to go and take some of her ashes with me.
The Howth hiking view is stunning.
I've heard that Ireland is very scenic.
I'm all signed up for the WEP challenge and I got your newsletter earlier on!
I'm envious of your time in Ireland (I've only been to Dublin) and that photo of Guinness has me thirsty!
Fantastic pics. Thank you for sharing. Looks like a great month is ahead.
Beautiful photos. Ireland is definitely a place that I would love to visit someday. I think my mom would too!
Wow, those photos are gorgeous! Ireland looks like such a lovely place to visit…
What fin pictures – looks like you really had a meaningful time there. And yes, lots of fuel for the writing fire.
Beautiful pictures. I'd like to go there one day. A lot of events going on in the YA world. 🙂
Oh my, that place is stunning. Now I want to go there myself.
Ireland was always on my list, your post has just bumped it higher up. 🙂
I like your choice of quote. That is a nice way to look at things. I guess I am going really really fast, as things are getting out of control on my end. 😛
A beautiful place! Looks like you had a wonderful trip. I went ghost hunting recently. I imagine you might have to speak gaelic to communicate with them in Ireland. 🙂
Such gorgeous places. I agree, it must have been something big to send your ancestors away from there!
Oh gosh, Lee, you mean I'm not going fast enough…yet? Loved the pics! And not sure if I get your newsletter. Probably not as I'm pretty averse to newsletters. Maybe I'll have to make an exception or two. :-0
I visited Ireland when I was in high school. It was truly a beautiful land. I think I have never seen skies so blue, grass so green, rainbows so brilliant.
I'd love to visit Ireland one day–and quite a few other places.
Lovely photos! I love the Emerald Isle. I spent ten days there back in 1985 and would love to go back someday. I have ancestors from County Cork. Your photos make me want to go dig mine out and go through them again. To me, Ireland and Scotland are the most beautiful places on Earth.
Re "The Emerald Isle has my heart, and I think my ancestors must have either been desperate or nuts to leave it": Mike says he's thinking "desperate." Something about a potato famine. I can relate. When he brings home McDonald's French fries, I'm totes desperate to get my share.
Gorgeous! Your pictures make me want to go there, and I don't usually have the urge to travel overseas.
Woot. I'm heading to Dublin this weekend and I'm looking forward to it. Lovely photos.
Ireland looks beautiful! With the drought here in Ca. We see very little green. Love that quote!
Ireland is a place I long to see. The history and to be able to drink in a pub that is 300 years old. I would not have Guinness though(yuck). My niece loves the stuff (again, yuck). Glad you had a great time!!
The pictures are beautiful. This is on my top places to visit list 🙂
Yes, you've interested me in Ireland. It is a beautiful country, whether I'm Irish or not.
Great pics. Definitely a beautiful place to visit.
LOVE the stone (wall) pony and the Guinness! I'm kind of hinting at the name of a group. 🙂
Glad you are having fun. Great pictures.
Have I said how jealous I am of your visit to Ireland yet? Well, let me repeat myself…I am so envious! One day, one day I will get to see the things you saw. 🙂
I would love to go to Ireland someday. Thanks so much for sharing some of your adventure with us. Enjoyed the pics and stories. Have a great week!
Ireland sure does look like a place to visit. I got distant, very, relatives over there somewhere
I think you're in a very large group, Pat!
I would love to visit Ireland. It looks so beautiful. Your trip looks like such fun. Thanks for taking us along on your travels. 🙂
~Jess
I need someone to hear my stories and you guys are a wonderful audience.
Love the pictures, and oh my yes, take me away to Ireland. Thanks for the WEP plug, can hardly wait for the 19th to arrive. Going fast enough, never! 🙂
I think the WEP will be fun for everyone.
Look at that gorgeous horse! Speaking of hoofed animals… always wanted me an alpaca in my yard 🙂
They're noisy, but adorable.
I never get tired of ghost stories, so I wasn't tired of the castle. =P
I knew you'd be up for more ghosties, but I just had to move on.
I definitely want to go to Ireland one day. Gorgeous photos! August is already going by so quickly.
I know. And my list for June isn't finished.
I hope to one day visit Ireland. It truly is a beautiful place.
It seems you're in a majority here today.
Beautiful pictures! I would love to visit someday.
We need a gathering of bloggers in Ireland.
Great photos! I'd love to visit Ireland one day as well 🙂
A writers conference maybe. There are some great writers who are among the Irish.
I long to go to Ireland and visit my red haired, passionate Irish relatives. I don't drink, but am certainly going to stop in a pub–any pub for the experience and I might taste the beer. We'll see.
Guinness is pretty strong. I'd suggest you watch other enjoy it.
I would love to go to Ireland. My daughter and I have talked about it many times. You only made up more eager.
Susan Says
Then I expect to hear about that trip soon.
I've been interested in visiting the Emerald Isle for a while, but your sharing and pics have given me extra motivation.
Wonderful!
Love the photos. I think it would be hard to leave there.
I know, but the land couldn't support so many and so people left where they had better opportunities. I'm glad my ancestors made the trip to the U.S.
So beatiful! I want to go one day.
Let us know when you make it!
Loved the pictures of Ireland, I lived in Enniskillen for a few years way back , lovely place.. Enjoyed the post very much .
Yvonne.
I could live there for a while. It's a beautiful country. Love their attitude as well–very easy people to talk to.
Hi Lee – it's a beautiful country … I haven't seen much of the east side .. but I spent six weeks at 21 staying near Cork and then travelling a bit along the west coast … I don't remember much! Except it was glorious … and very rural – a delight. You look as though you've found your metier here … lovely photos and that pub looks a good choice, and the Guinness on occasions … Your four -legged pal looks delightful! Cheers Hilary
Then you know what I'm writing about first hand. How wonderful! We've travel some of the same roads.
Is Ireland a potential A to Z theme? 🙂
Yvonne
Probably not. I've done all I can with Ireland this month!
Some day I'll make the trip across. It's not far, but I've never been. Guinness is definitely great after a hike!
You can take a ferry, right? From Liverpool to Dublin. I did the overnight a few years ago and it was an easy way to visit.
I'm pretty sure I'm on your newsletter list.
Some beautiful country. Can't do the Guinness though. Too strong for me.
One Guiness goes a long way!
