This is Day 11 of my Character Reveal series for my next book—title TBA soon. I’ll post a new character and a one-question T/F Quiz each Wednesday until I run out of characters. Those who comment most AND answer the most questions correctly will receive a signed book (bookplate sent separately) and a chance at 1 of 2 $10.00 Gift Certificates. NOTE THIS CHANGE: I started announcing winners at the end of each week, but that became tedious, so I’ll announce future winners toward the end of the Reveal. The books and the CG’s will be sent out upon publication. Sorry, but I can only send signed books to U.S. However, I can send an eBook to international winners.
To enter, leave a comment and type the answer to the quiz at the end of your comment (A, B, or C) I’ve left links to previous posts if you’re joining me late, so you can work your way back if you want to see the other posts and comment. Here’s last week’s POST.
Meet the Sheriff

Sheriff Davidson’s daughter is a skier, so he’s keen on finding out who caused Libby’s accident that day at Blake’s Crossing, but there’s nothing to go on. Libby can’t remember anything beyond the collision, and nobody’s coming forward as a witness. Still, he’s determined to investigate.
This character is a slow, but sure kind of guy–old-school. He does his leg work and he’s not one to give up on what seems like a hopeless situation. He’s also a stickler for following the rules, and with Libby and Harley also tracking down clues, he gets a bit perturbed.
Quiz: There are a lot of famous TV sheriffs. Here are three, but one isn’t famous, in fact, he never existed. I made him up. Which one is he?
A. Johnson Mayhew, of Tulsa, Oklahoma
B. Andy Jackson Taylor of Mayberry, North Carolina
C. Seth Bullock of Deadwood, South Dakota
NEXT WEEK YOU’LL MEET LIBBY, THE LAST CHARACTER I’LL INTRODUCE, BUT THE CENTRAL ONE. AND I’LL POST THE QUIZZES WITH ALL THE ANSWERS. THE QUIZZES WERE JUST FOR FUN, BUT IF YOU TOOK THE TIME TO PLAY, I REALLY APPRECIATED IT, AND YOUR NAME WENT IN THE HAT FOR THE GIFT CERTIFICATE.
🎶 “So put the sugar in the tank of the sheriff’s car
We’ll slash the deputy’s tires
They won’t get very far
When they finally get the word
That there’s been a hold-up”

The Refreshments
I’ll guess A.
By process of elimination (I love small town sheriffs), I’ll go with A. However, Johnson Mayhew has just the right name – and demeanor – to be a star in his own series as well 😉 Love the premise, best wishes!
COngrats on the upcoming book, Lee! So exciting!!
My guess is A. I am not positive though (but didn’t Google it). 🙂 Sounds like a great character! Thanks for sharing him with us.
Hi Lee,
I go with A also. I do love a stubborn type sheriff or law enforcer that ‘always gets his man…’
What’s with the stripper names? LOL I like going with Grandmas first name and the last thing you ate….how about Tessy Tortillas… LOL
It’s “A.” Do you know that one of my churches is in Mayberry, the real one, which is about 20 miles north of Mt. Airy, where Andy Griffin grew up.
I didn’t know there was a “real” Mayberry. Is it as sweet and charming as in the TV series?
A is my guess. Totally know Mayberry RFD. LOL But I haven’t seen the Deadwood series.
Oh, and my stripper name would be Lillie Strawberry Bun.
I saw one episode, but didn’t care for it. Once they start with all the F words for no real reason except they can, I tune out.
I absolutely love your stripper name! I think you and Fanny Fudgesicle tie for the winner.
Well, I’ve heard of B, and C seems like it should be, so I’m going to go with A. I will be interested to see what the actual answers are.
Next week and you’ll know all the answers!
The sheriff sounds interesting. The answer is A.
You sound as if you know your sheriffs, Natalie. 🙂
I think the answer is A … or C 🙂
The Sherrif sound like the exact type needed. A never-give-up hard worker!
Yes. Please send one my way. I like your answer, but you left out B 🙂
Not fair for your ‘strayan readers too. Sadly I had to ask Captain Google (which is cheating I know).
The answer is A.
My stripper name is a tricky one. I never knew either Grandma and don’t know their names either. Invisible medication is probably a fair approximation… (and how I wish my medication WAS invisible.
I wish the same thing for you, Sue. I know you deal with a lot of meds. As to our stripper names, you’re lucky you don’t have to choose one. I’m stuck with Lillian Peach, for heaven’s sake!
I believe A, but I really don’t follow those types of shows.
But you guessed and for that there are points!
Making up names is fun. My wife’s cousin saw a neat technique online declaring your “stripper” name to be your grandmother’s first name plus the last thing you had to eat. Hers is “Fannie Fudgesicle.”
Quiz: A – Johnson Mayhew is the one impersonating a lawman.
Well, I can’t top Fannie Fudgesicle, but I can come close. How does Lillian Peach sound? I might have a new career because of your wife’s cousin!
Hi Lee – at least the Sherriff is being persistent …
As to A, B or C … I have no idea … actually I’d guess B – only because I don’t relate a sherriff to North Carolina – I’m sure I’m wrong but …
Cheers – looking forward to meeting Libby – all the best – Hilary
This was an unfair question for my British visitors. I apologize! 🙂
