Big Update: I met Mark Noce, my August Featured Follower this month, at his book event. Mark and Between Two Fires gathered a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters at the Burlingame Library.
Mark’s so personable, and he has a lovely wife, who I also had a chance to meet.
Congrats again to Mark on his book which already has an audio version and a sequel in the wings!
I’m doing a Giveaway on Goodreads for Sign of the Green Dragon. It ends Sept. 14, so if you’d like a paperback copy of my book, don’t delay. Enter today. (Pat Hatt and poet, Yvonne now have competition in the rhyme department. )

Goodreads Book Giveaway
Donna Galanti and I were on Secret Files of DMS Character Book Club Friday. Her main character, Joshua interviewed Sam, my guy in Dragon. Next month we’ll do it again with Sam interviewing Joshua. Great idea from Jess and Steph. If you’d like to see what we were up to, HERE’s the link.
I have a new Featured Follower in September! Great writer. Great book, so hope you’ll come by and meet that writer the first Monday of next month. There will be a signed hardcopy giveaway this month! See? This writer’s very cool.

Are you ready for the spooky season? No? Well then, get ready for heaven’s–or that other place’s sake. Sign up for the Happy Halloween Storytime Blog Hop!

I love that you got to meet Mark in person. Awesome! Sounds like a fun event. ๐ You have lots going on- which is great.
~Jess
How cool that you got to meet Mark! I never hear about any book signings around where I live, but maybe I'm not listening in the right places. I should check out local libraries now and then since book stores near me are a thing of the past.

And isn't that sad? Fortunately, for our town Border's went out of business and we have a wonderful small indie bookstore that shelves the bestsellers and local authors too.
Awesome to have met Mark!
It was really very nice.
Hi, dropping in as I'm working through the A-Z Road Trip. Thanks for the info on the October blog hop, I really need to get back into socialising ๐
Hope you'll jump into the October Hop. It should be fun.
I love meeting up with authors. I'm ready for fall and for these temperatures to cool. I'm also a Halloween person.
I knew you had to be!
Hey superstar author, Lee,
Would of got here earlier but I was covered in red tape.
Mark is quite the featured follower. That was quite the book event. No doubt, just like me, he was starstruck meeting your good self.
Meeting people you've known via the internet is 3D reality is quite the concept.
Congrats to Mark, to you and hey congrats to all of us.
Of course, me being your starstruckest fan, has taken the liberty of sharing your post on a whole bunch of social "notworking" sites.
I'm outta' here…
Gary
Your celebrity precedes you as always. I heard you approach far before your arrival. It's the horns, Gary. They are a tad loud. ๐ Lovely to read your words as always.
How great to have met Mark and to have shared his special evening with him. I loved his book and so was pleased to hear of a possible sequel.
I've already got my copy of The Sign of the Green Dragon and loving it!!!
Have a super September!!
Great to read your comment, Nicola! But I always enjoy your visits. Thanks for the huzzahs for Mark and many thanks for reading my humble contribution to the younger sets' literature.
Congratulations. I always enjoy meeting favorite authors and fellow bloggers!
Wouldn't that be a fun conference?
You've been super busy!
Great quote. ๐
I need to find an hourly wage job.
Wow, you're busy. How nice you got a chance to meet Mark. He'll have appreciated your support a lot.
It's always good to show up at events whenever possible. This was possible and enjoyable, too!
Hi Lee – congratulations on your book – but what fun to meet Mark – I must read his book, now I've downloaded it …
I agree with Dianne – we do seem to get on well – bloggers and authors alike … cheers Hilary
It would be an interesting round table to have us at a gathering. What interesting conversations would travel around that table.
Isn't it so amazing when you get to meet an internet friend in person? I'm always a little nervous about those meetings (but then, I've always been socially awkward). But experience shows they usually go smoothly, and I'm getting better at expecting the best! People on the internet are not always who they appear to be, but writers usually are!
I think we're the most honest people in print. Somehow we can't hide who we are because of what we do. I'm not sure that even makes sense now that I read it. But I guess the writer seeks the truth and wrestles it on the page. You can't do that a lot and not reveal who you are.
Lots of goings on. Good luck with your giveaway.
As my gram always said, "Idle hands are the devil's plaything." ๐
You've been busy, in a good way. You stay busy. But like they say, when you need something done, give it to a busy person and she'll get it done (or something like that). How awesome that you got to meet Mark and his wife in person. I'm just now getting to know him from the blogs I've visited. His book sounds amazing and I know it will do tremendously well. I'm going to pop over and check out the Halloween blog hop now.
Thanks so much for the great comment, Melissa. I look forward to reading your entry in October. Thanks for signing up.
Hee hee to the quote! Lovely when we meet bloggers! Congrats to Mark!
We all resist change, and that's amazing, isn't it? Change is a constant throughout our lives.
I think I've signed up for everything. Yes, I like the spooky season. The Character Book Club was fun. Great quote too. Have a lovely week.
Back at you. The week must be a happy and fulfilling one for us all.
The quote sure stands true for many. Great you got to meet and greet and you can rhyme a bit, you'll be a hit lol
Now all I need is a cat. I have the hat. I could be looking at a whole new writing career.
How lovely that you met Mark and his wife, and had a fine time.
It was a nice gathering. Glad I could make it.
Thanks for inviting me to the blog hop! Things are still crazy around here, but I'm definitely considering it.
Really enjoying your book!
I'll bet you come up with something to chill the old bones! Hope to read your entry if you join.
Congrats Mark. So cool you got to meet each other. Lee, thank you so much for posting about the October blog hop. I appreciate the support so much. Hugs.
Juneta @ Writer's Gambit
I hope some great sign ups happen for your hop!
Wow! It sounds like you have lots going on, and lots going well. I get to host Mark on Wednesday, so I'm looking forward to that.
I'll stop by to say hi on Wed!
I am working to get my third Halcyon Beach book ready for the spooky season. All those books are ghost stories so I'd love to have it finished for Halloween.
Oh yes! Do that, Kathleen.
My days run out of hours before I run out of things to do.
How cool to meet a fellow writer in person. I love doing that, but I'm a long way from most of the UK based writers I know. One day I'm going to go to the middle of the country and invite everyone to join me ๐
Sounds like a solid plan! Keep me posted.
I LOVED getting to meet you in person, Lee! Thanks so much for coming:) I've also entered the giveaway, but if I don't win, I'm definitely buying your book! ๐
You're the best, Mark. Great to meet you, too!
Glad you had a good time at the event. It's great meeting authors!
And YES, I'm so ready for Halloween.
I'm always ready for Halloween! My favorite holiday.
Will have to get my thinking cap on if everyone is going poetry. Great post Lee.
Yvonne.
I'm no competition, Yvonne! You know that.
The rhyme department is getting competition. Woot! Should we have a contest? ๐
A spring poetry contest sounds good to me.
Hi, Lee!
Now that summer's on the run and autumn is on the way, I can feel the pace picking up, can't you? Being crazy busy gets the creative juices flowing.
I am happy to see so many exciting new developments in your life including the opportunity to meet Mark Noce. It's a delightful exercise to have fictional characters interview each other.
If you will allow me to drift off topic, I read your About the Author page and was amazed to see how many places you have lived. You were born in Modesto, the setting of American Graffiti (although actual filming took place in Petaluma). Any specific memories related to the movie or its production? You refer to yourself as a Valley Girl. Just curious, do you have any specific memories of the Valley Girl craze touched off by Frank Zappa and his daughter Moon Unit Zappa and their hit single "Valley Girl" or memories related to the hit Nicholas Cage movie inspired by the song?
Have a wonderful week, dear friend Lee!
I was in Modesto about a week, so I can't claim any fame from that film. However, my dad was born in Petaluma–the dairy capital of CA and where all the Swiss-Italian dairy farmers seemed to migrate in the early 1900's. I do remember AG. And I do remember the 80s Valley Girl craze. I was much older by then and knew better than to talk that way, but it was a fun connection. My kids loved Zappa, so yes I shared my memories–actually my mom's memories as told to me–about Modesto. Thanks for the very interesting questions! Lovely to have your visits. I enjoy your blog so much.
how wonderfully lovely meeting blogging friends alive! You two both look swell
It was a great afternoon! Thanks, Dez.
That's great that you got to hang out with Mark and his wife. Can't believe Halloween is just around the corner.

That's the scary part! Halloween is a coming.
I'm so happy for how things are going for Mark. I'm not ready for fall or Halloween stuff.
I know. It's early, but good to know ahead of time.
Wow, Mark's a tall one, isn't he? It's great you got to meet him at his signing. We so infrequently get meet our online friends. Congrats on the GR giveaway. I'll retweet and share. ๐
Marks normal. I'm the shorty. I make everybody look tall, even my dog. ๐ Oh, wait! I don't have a dog anymore.
How great that you and Mark got to meet. And wonderful to hear he had a good crowd for his event!
It was a very well attended event.
How fun that you got to meet Mark! He's always been so personable on his blog. I'm excited to listen to the audiobook when it comes out (soon!).
He spoke at his signing and was great!
Iโm looking forward to all the good things coming up on your blog Lee. I did follow the link to the giveway but didnโt enter as Iโm in the UK, but I wish everyone who enters the best of luck.
Most of the giveaways are digital, Barbara. Is that the problem? I have to cut back on sending hardcopies abroad (alas).
Sounds like you are busy, busy, busy in a good and most excellent way.
Writing books and selling them is a large job. You know that! ๐
That quote is so often true!!!
Love that you got to meet Mark – very cool!
We are creatures of habit!
Cool you got to hang with Mark! Glad his event was a big success.
That's always a great way to connect with writers.
