A Rambunctious AtoZ Blogging Challenge Day

April 20, 2013 By C. Lee McKenzie

The brainchild of Arlee Bird, at Tossing it Out

I have to take a moment to comment on P and Pond Pudding. Hilaryโ€™s post intrigued me so much that I had to try her Pond Pudding recipe. To recap: first, you beat the lemons with sugar, then you heat the cream and pour it into a teapot. Standing up as high as is safe (note the footstool with my lovely toes showing) and drip, drip, drop, drop, splat the cream into the lemon mix. Voila! Frothy Pond Pudding. We had it for dessert the next night and it was delicious-very rich, so Iโ€™d advise small and infrequent quantities. Also its a good idea to warn your significant other about what youโ€™re doing. My husband thought Iโ€™d gone over the edge when he found me in the kitchen on the footstool. “Just cooking, dear!” I said. His look was priceless.

Ta Da!

Now about R:

Rambunctious

Whenever I read this word I see characters like Maniac McGee or Dory from Finding Nemo who “Just [keeps] swimming. Just [keeps] swimming.”

Denise the Menace was one of the most rambunctious characters Ketcham ever created. And his ADHD antics kept us all entertained.

And what about Pippi Longstocking? How this chatterbox charmed us with her impulsive, rambunctious nature.

I love rambunctious characters! I love the word rambunctious!

I'm going to make the pudding, by golly. I will stand on that stool (having first polished my toenails) and will chant 'Just keep pouring! Just keep pouring!'

Great post! (Now I'm hungry for lemon…)

Hi Lee .. thanks so much for playing with the pond - and your hubby even enjoyed it! Amazing - please thank him for being such a good sport …

My mother I guess decided her daughter was in a rambunctious mood when the decision was made all those years ago to give this pudding a try ..

Her daughter can get uncontrollably exuberant, boisterous, rumbustious … especially when balancing up a ladder, which I did use … but it was fun and we laughed … be patient to try it was challenging!

Thanks Lee for giving some excellent feed back and endorsement to the pond from across the pond .. this post will be linked over now .. cheers to you .. Hilary

ROFL! I can't believe you tried making it! I told Hilary I'd love to eat it but I'd never bother with the fuss. That must have been hilarious to watch. Sounds scrumptious.

Pippi Longstocking is rambunctious! I dressed up as her for Halloween when I was about 6 or 7. My mom put a hanger in my hair to make my braids stick out. Obviously, I won that costume contest ๐Ÿ™‚

Woohoo! Yay for a successful conclusion to your pudding adventure! Sadly, my husband is not a fan of my cooking adventures. I have to admit, they're pretty scary. If I can mis-measure, mis-season, or mismanage the dish in any way, rest assured I will. ๐Ÿ˜›

I can only envision what the Husband Unit and cats' reactions would be if I did that. Sounds yummy. I get yelled at enough for working in the semi dark… but I'm used to working w/o light up at the observatory.

    Dennis was definitely a spitfire.
