50 States of Pray

2013 was a year of loss for our family. My mom died. My son was in a serious accident and is still in ICU.

While I never imagined two back to back catastrophes like this, I’ve learned to live with them and to appreciate my family more than ever before.

So out of death and out of crisis come simple lessons: treasure the moment because that is all you have and treasure the people in your life while you can.

My sincerest thanks to all of my followers and my readers. I appreciate you and I value your part in my life. May you share your holiday with those you love and my 2014 see your dreams come true.

  5. Aw, Lee. I knew about your mother, but didn't realize your son had been in an accident. What a lot of stress for you and your family. I'm so sorry, and I hope he gets better soon. I'm wishing you and your family a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2014. You deserve it.

  17. My grandfather, my cat and my mom's boyfriend died in a month's time in 2013, so I know exactly what you're going through. My thoughts are with you. Next year can only be better.

  20. You have a blogosphere of love and support behind you in those times when things just aren't flowing okey-dokey. Of course you have those closest to you to provide a shoulder to cry on or an arm to punch just for general purpose as a stress reliever. You've dealt with and still are dealing with so much, and I agree with you in that life must be loved and lived to the fullest each and every day.

    You are always in my heart and thoughts.

  26. My heartfelt prayers go out to you. I pray your son recovers soon. Many years ago I lost my husband on Christmas day and then my dad several months later. I also learned how important it was to love to the fullest. May you have a Merry Christmas.

  27. Dear Lee – I feel terrible as I don't think I'd taken on board that your son was still in ICU … how very difficult, especially during your mother's recent last few months.

  30. Oh Lee, it seems that 2013 was tough on many of us. You are so right, all we really have is this moment, this inhale and exhale of breath. Know that I am sending lots of healing thoughts and prayers to your son and a BIG HUGE hug to you.

  31. Aw, Merry Christmas, Lee, and what an important lesson! I think it hit me while living in NYC, when I learned to cling to my family and see how blessed I was while struggling to adjust and find my place in that strange corner of the world.

  35. I am offering prayers for your son's recovery, for your family's grieving, that out of the grief arise memories and understanding of the gift that your mother was. And a new understanding of your own precious part in everyone's lives, those you love and those you never meet.
