Mystery Blogger U’s 2013 theme: “Unified Theory of Writing”

U is for a Unified Theory of Writing

“It’s important to know that no matter how obvious and sensible a piece of writing advice might be, there are always going to be circumstances when it won’t hold true. Or when there are other, equally as effective ways to tell the story. . .An unmitigated disaster in the hands of one writer may be an unqualified success in the hands of another.”

Who is it?  This blogger has some moods, but regardless of those moods always informs the readers.

Ah Gary, how did U miss this posting? I think Mr. Alphabet Dude aka Arlee Bird or whatever, should get more sleep. A victim of his own ridiculous challenge. Sweet, sweet irony!

I have no idea who the mystery person is. I could copy and paste the answer, but nah.

Okay, cause I'm trying to be as amazing as you, not much chance of that, I shall now visit your posting above this posting.

I guessed right before scrolling. Mooderino.

  3. Sharon Himsl says

Mooderino is my first choice. I peeked in a lot last year. Always gave sound advice. And yeah, I'm also surprised at the different takes on a piece of writing one writer can have over another. I've seen this happen in critique groups.

I don't know this one, either! I think I'm fizzling out toward the end of April…

I'm all over the Unified Theory of Writing. I think that could hold true when you compare drafts throughout your own process too. Yikes.

This is the Moody Writer. Mooderino, I think.

Everyone got it, but I also want to say that I love the point being made in the excerpt. That's a great way of explaining things, and I love the use of the extra "U"s. 🙂

No clue, but I love coming to your site not only because it's fun, but because when those books stack up in a row, that nice little noise wakes me up. I need that right now. 🙂

That's Mooderino! He totally rocks, and I read his blog all the time — he's fabulous when it comes to craft and technique. It's an unusual name though. Kind of reminds me of an old-fashioned nickname, like The Fonz, Jimmy the Schnoz … and Mooderino.

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 24, 2014 at 9:59 pm

I wonder where Moody came up with that Mooderino? It has a 50's sound, doesn't it?

Moody writing. Yep, I peeked at Alex's answer. But I do have catnip, and I'm not afraid to use it. 🙂

Good idea for your 2014 theme, C. Lee. Great way to support your fellow writers. 🙂

I don't know the Moody Writing person, but he/she sounds very scientific. The Unified Writing theory sounds like the String theory in physics that's supposed to make sense of everything in the universe. Does the Unified Writing theory make sense of everything in a writer's universe?

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 24, 2014 at 10:01 pm

We'll have to consult Mooderino on that one, Sherry.

Advice and writing "rules" can be tricky. They are more like guidelines, I agree.

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 24, 2014 at 10:05 pm

You know the rules and you break them very well.

  29. Arlee Bird says

    April 24, 2014 at 1:57 pm

Wow, I really overslept this morning. The alarm woke me at 5:30. Too early to beat Alex here, but looks like everybody else slept later too -or were so stumped they didn't leave a comment. But I agree with Alex. With the clue it has to be Mood at Moody Writing. And he often writes about technical aspects of writing.

I sure wish I could sleep like I did this morning when the week-end is here.
