AtoZ Blogging Challenge. A Hop For Those With A Voracious Appetite For Fun

April 25, 2013 By C. Lee McKenzie

The brainchild of Arlee Bird, at Tossing it Out

When someone says they have a voracious ANYTHING, that makes me stop and pay attention. The word conjures up images of Tom Jones and his eating habits

or Tyrannosaurs Rex and his.

If someone tells me theyโ€™re a voracious reader I picture them buried under a pile of books . . . some of them mine. Dream on, Lee!

So what are you voracious about in your life? Iโ€™m thinking I should go gobble up something about now.  Iโ€™ve given myself a voracious appetite.

Hereโ€™s the List and the people below bring you this voracious hop:
The Madlab Post (Nicole Ayers)
Tossing It Out (Arlee Bird)
Amlokiblogs (Damyanti Biswas)
Alex J. Cavanaugh (Alex J. Cavanaugh)
Life is Good (Tina Downey)
Cruising Altitude 2.0 (DL Hammons)
Retro-Zombie (Jeremy Hawkins)
The Warrior Muse (Shannon Lawrence)
The QQQE (Matthew MacNish)
Leave it to Livia (Livia Peterson)
No Thought 2 Small (Konstanz Silverbow)
Breakthrough Blogs (Stephen Tremp)
Spunk on a Stick (L. Diane Wolfe)

A great word, similar to ravenous, which brings up the same connotations. Now, I'm veracious about getting the word out about my book and getting it into many people's hands. Writerโ€™s Mark

  9. Carol Kilgore says

I love the word 'voracious.' I'd like to see a few of my books in that voracious reader's stack, too ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Nick Wilford says

that t-rex picture is funny - I guess I am a voracious reader, though lately it is more a voracious sleeper, I can't get enough! Weird, that doesn't really feel like it makes sense. Voracious appetite for sleep? hmmmmm

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 25, 2013 at 4:12 pm

      Sleep? What's that? ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. John Wiswell says

Voracious t-rex? Haha, I like that image.

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

T-Rex is the poster boy for this word.

  22. Bish Denham says

    April 25, 2013 at 3:18 pm

I had a bet going with myself that you'd be posting about the word vivacious. I lost, but I don't know which me. When I think of voracious, food certainly does come to mind as well as my dog wolfing down her meal.

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 25, 2013 at 4:12 pm

Vivacious is a prettier word. Thanks. I think you gave me a compliment, Bish.

  23. J.L. Campbell says

    April 25, 2013 at 2:59 pm

Yeah, voracious does speak to food with me.

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 25, 2013 at 4:13 pm

I'm getting hungry just posting about this word.

  24. Laura Eno says

    April 25, 2013 at 2:55 pm

I'll go with thinker, like Al did, and add cats to the voracious list. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 25, 2013 at 4:13 pm

Oh, yes. Cats have to be on the list, too.

  25. Catherine Stine says

    April 25, 2013 at 2:26 pm

I have a voracious appetite for buying Kindle books. I have so many lined up it's getting absurd!

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 25, 2013 at 4:10 pm

      A great device!

  26. Angela Brown says

    April 25, 2013 at 2:11 pm

Voracious. It's such an aggressive yet poetic word. Commands attention. I'm voracious about chocolate and sweet things. Currently, I'm holding a daily STA (sweet things anonymous) meeting each morning to remind myself not to eat everything sweet. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 25, 2013 at 2:12 pm

If you need an intervention call me. I'll get that sweet stuff out of your house for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. Michael Di Gesu says

    April 25, 2013 at 1:59 pm

    Well,

WIth me it's all about beauty… of any kind. Flowers, palm trees swaying in a subtle breeze, a child's laughter, a puppy wagging his tail, a moonlit night … that sort of thing.

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 25, 2013 at 2:12 pm

      A voracious romantic!

  28. DEZMOND says

That's why you love the movies, Dezmond!

  29. Al Diaz says

    April 25, 2013 at 12:51 pm

I'm voracious thinker. I'm always thinking, always pondering, always riddling and unriddling mysteries and facts of life. Even asleep I'm discussing something.

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 25, 2013 at 2:11 pm

Dragons are like that. That's what makes them so powerful.

  30. Mere Joyce says

    April 25, 2013 at 12:49 pm

I was actually thinking of using this word for V as well! Such a wonderful descriptor, =)

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 25, 2013 at 2:10 pm

It's an obvious word choice, but I'm at the end of this marathon and running out of originality.

  31. Alex J. Cavanaugh says

    April 25, 2013 at 12:31 pm

I'm voracious about my guitar playing! And Hot Tamales.

    • C. Lee McKenzie says

      April 25, 2013 at 2:09 pm

That's quite a combination, but quite understandable!
