Insecure Writers Support Group & Burma

November 5, 2014 By C. Lee McKenzie

ALEX CAVANAUGH
I’m not here.
Nope.
I’m in Burma (AKA Myranmar). I like Burma better and it’s easier to spell.

However, I’ve packed my Insecurities, some of them. I’m only allowed something like 40 lbs., so taking all of them would make my bag too heavy. Here’s the insecure feelings I took with me.

While I’m gone,

  • no one will notice
  • everyone will disappear from my blogging life. “So long. Farewell. Been good to know you.”
  • I’ll forget how to blog.
  • I’ll forget why I blog.
  • I’ll miss a writing opportunity of a lifetime, never to be repeated.

I’ll be back to Blogging December 1. Hope to see you here then.

Have a wonderful trip! I hope you'll write all about it when you get back. And post lots of photos!

Hm? What now? I'm sorry. While you were off in Burma, I forgot who you were. And why you were here. (And why I was here.) Just want to say, "So long. Farewell. Been good to know you."

Oh, and while you were away, letters came from McMillan, Random House, and Lotto. After being frightened by the orange letters saying "Urgent! Limited Time Offer!" I just left them on your front doorstep. But don't worry - they haven't gotten wet in the recent rain because last I checked, raccoons had taken them into the garden and were gnawing on them. Have a lovely vacay, Whatever-your-name-is!

Your insecurities weigh nothing; that's good. The other good thing is that in no time you'll be there and all your insecurities will disappear. Have a wonderful time!

Hi Lee - what amazing creative ideas you'll be having … such a fantastic place to visit - I'd love to do it one day. Looking forward to seeing some pics and catch up on the news from Burmese shores … and as Angela says "You are not forgettable" - couldn't agree more … just enjoy, just see, just take it all in, just forget for three weeks that blog space … clear the brainwaves for new thoughts … and we won't forget you … lucky you!! Cheers Hilary

You will certainly have me here when you return. So enjoy Burma and shed a few of those insecurities so they don't weigh you down. You, my dear, are not forgettable 🙂

Have a wonderful time! And with NaNo going on, blog traffic is way down in November anyway. Perfect time for a hiatus.

You will be noticed that you are not here but also people are happy that you will have a great trip. Funny a dear friend of mine is going to Thailand and will be on an island this time. So near your neck of the woods…kinda:) Soak in the culture and ambience and food as this will leave you replenished for your writing adventures

Those same insecurities occur to me at least three times a week, maybe four, and I'm not on vacation or anywhere near as cool as where you are. Enjoy your vacation and take tons of photos. I'm sure you'll have tons of blogging material when you get back.

    Enjoy your trip!

And you know we won't desert you while you're gone.
